Christina Marie McCauley
Miss Cobb County 2008
| Christina McCauley, with a golden
voice, has just begun her journey as the 50th Golden
Anniversary Miss Cobb County. On a night filled with many fond memories,
twenty-five past Miss Cobbs once again sparkled on the Miss Cobb County
stage that sent them into the spotlight as role models and public
relations ambassadors from 1958 to 2007. The first Miss Cobb County
and Miss Georgia 1958, Jeannette Arlene Ardell Vogt, proudly placed the
new 2008 Miss Cobb County sash sanctioned by Miss America on Christina
during the dramatic crowning ceremony that capped the night down memory
lane. A double winner in preliminary competition, Christina was named
winner of the $200 Corwin M. Robison II swimsuit award and the $400
Donna Chastain talent award for her captivating performance of
Pucinni’s “Chi il bel sogno di Doretta.” |

where she graduated in 2006.
She performed for two years with
ComPAny, the prestigious performing
arts group at Pebblebrook. The
rising sophomore at BSC is member of
Chi Omega fraternity and was
selected for the sensational Hilltop
Singers, (BSC Show Choir) who
perform across the country. Her
freshman year she was a member of
the Southern Chorale and has now
been chosen as a member of the
Concert Choir at BSC. As Miss

cash scholarship made possible by
the Pat Johnson Scholarship Fund
($11,500), Nalley Lexus

This
year she represented Cherokee County in the Miss
Georgia Pageant, where she was named 4th
runner-up and won a $3,000 scholarship. She was the first runner-up in
the Miss Cobb County Pageant last year. Last December she journeyed to
Branson, Missouri, where she was a model for the Sherri Hill Serendipity
Prom Fashion Show 2007 video. Her platform of “Scoliosis Awareness” is
very personal to her, since she was diagnosed with scoliosis at age 10.
She endured wearing a back brace for four years and 23 hours a day and
now looks back that early detection was the key to her recovery. Her
platform that centers on the importance of early detection interfaces
directly with the new Miss America national platform, the Children’s
Miracle Network. Christina was treated at Scottish Rite Hospital in
Atlanta, one of the 7 children’s hospitals in Georgia that is funded
through CMN. Her energetic cheering section included parents Jack and
Rebecca McCauley and sisters, Meghan, 15, a sophomore at Hillgrove, and
Katherine, 14, a freshman at Pebblebrook. Her goal is to obtain a
Masters degree in both Vocal Performance and Education with her eye on
both the Broadway stage and the Metropolitan Opera. As the Golden
Anniversary Miss Cobb County, she is well on her way to achieve her
dreams. |
